This semester, I decided to take an Adobe Illustrator eCourse through a local college in Sacramento. So glad I did, here are a couple of samples of my homework projects.
First project was to take a TV or video remote and recreate it to be as realistic as possible. I did show it early in the semester, but I like what I created:

Next project was to take an interior image from a magazine and recreate it using certain color pathways and lighting. Here is what I turned in:

The most recent project is a package redesign- where we had to search for a grocery store product in need of a design overhaul. Here is my label for this beef product:
Personally, I like the white/blue ribbon in the product logo I made. The cow art is also mine; here is a close up of this white-faced hereford:

Taking a class like this is great! It stretches your skills, challenges you to try something new, plus I love to design.
Of course, if it were up to me, I love the first cow I drew for this project (see below), then decided it was too un-sophisicated for a product design. Still, it would make a terrific Carla quilting design:

WHAT TO EXPECT
We are so excited to announce our new and improved Illustrator 101 class! In this course, you will learn the basic functions and tools to help you design and illustrate vector graphics in Adobe Illustrator. This class will cover Artboards & Workspaces, an in-depth discussion of the Tool Palette and all it’s functions, using the Pen Tool, Live Paint, basic patterns, taking your Illustrator designs from the computer to print and much more!
PLEASE NOTE: This class will be taught in Creative Cloud. Versions CS5, CS6 and CC are recommended for use with this class. Versions earlier than CS5 may not translate well enough and are not recommended.
HOW IT WORKS
The Nicole’s Classes application is a downloadable program you install on your computer. (The link to download will be provided the day the class starts.) Learning is divided into 4 weeks and within those weeks you can learn at your own pace, anytime, anywhere. There are no set class times, though homework is due every Sunday night for instructor feedback. Students also have unlimited email access to the instructor for the duration of their course, to ask questions or get help when they’re stuck. Our classes are flexible, fit into most any schedule and we happily welcome international students!
Illustrator 101 has no prerequisite courses. Just have Illustrator installed on your computer and you’ll be ready to go! If you don’t have Illustrator yet and are unsure if it’s the right program for you, Adobe offers a free 7-day trial.
